YJP Houston First Fridays

First Fry-Day

A Chanukah First Fridays Shabbat Dinner

This year the first night of Chanukah falls on Friday night, so December First Fridays gets a double dose of light. We'll kindle the menorah together, welcome Shabbat, and sit down to a festive Chanukah Shabbat dinner with Houston's young Jewish professionals.

Bright lights, crispy latkes, warm donuts, and a table full of good people. Come for the first candle and stay for the evening.

Two Lights, One Table

On Friday afternoon we light the Chanukah menorah first, and then the Shabbat candles. It's a beautiful moment to share, and this year we get to share it with you.

Whether you're new to Houston, new to YJP, or a regular at our Shabbat table, you're invited to spend the first night of Chanukah with us. Plenty of food, plenty of light, and plenty of room.

🥔

Crispy Latkes

Golden, fresh, and fried the way Chanukah latkes should be, with all the classic toppings.

🍩

Sufganiyot

Warm jelly donuts dusted with powdered sugar for a sweet finish to the meal.

🕎

A Full Shabbat Dinner

Fresh challah, delicious courses, and a festive Chanukah Shabbat table from start to finish.

More Than Just Latkes

First Fridays brings together Jewish young professionals from across Houston for a meaningful, welcoming, and fun Shabbat experience.

Reconnect with friends, meet new ones, and light up the start of Chanukah together. No prior Shabbat experience necessary. Just bring yourself.
